Visual Copyright

My other theme for 2005 is visualizing concepts. This is something else that the Net does poorly, on the whole. Here’s a wonderful, good example of what I mean: Baruch College at CUNY has posted a “Copyright Map” for its faculty, who are trying to figure out whether they can use media of various sorts in their teaching. The Map is designed to mimic a subway map, and the different “routes” represent graphic instantiations of the copyright guidelines that Baruch independently developed for its faculty. Here’s the entrance to the map.
