Meaningless? A little humility, please, and a little less cynicism. Most law firms have standards that go beyond grades. If you qualify for a job because of great grades and the ability to speak 'without drooling," then it's not what I'd characterize as a good job (except in the limited sense that it may pay you a lot of money). It's likely not a job that you'll want to keep, and it's likely not a job that will want to keep you.

"Third: Whether your law school is “Tier 1″ or “Tier 4,” great grades alone don’t guarantee that you will get a good job. (Note to prospective Harvard, Stanford, and Yale grads: This applies to you too. When I was in practice, I was an on-campus interviewer at both schools, and I dinged an awful lot of people with amazing records.) "

Great. So one of the twenty or thirty firms these hypothetical HYS students dinged them and their amazing records. No one will hit all their interviews regardless of their record, so your point here is meaningless. A great record at those schools WILL get you a good job, so long as you dont appear to be socially retarded and can speak without drooling all over your new suit (admittedly, this may be difficult for some Harvard grads).
