I think he was referring to a &quot;modernist&quot; level of consumption as being OK (as opposed to some Spartan lifestyle); but beyond what you need to live, to educate yourself &amp; your children, to have a decent place to dwell, the consumption is evil, because it deprives others of resources they need to do the same. This definition may be &quot;simplistic&quot; but often the deepest truths are contained in everyday parables.</description>
