The NCAA website reports that the Division I Board of Directors did vote to ban all text messaging between college coaches and prospective student athletes. Among the key considerations was the recommendation of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, which called the text messaging “intrusive” and “overused.” Coaches will not be completely limited in their electronic contacts, though. They can still send prospective players emails and faxes.
