The American Film Institute released its updated list of the 100 Greatest American Films. I give myself credit for being pretty well-versed in American film, so I checked my viewing history. The results, below the jump.Â

The list of what’s dropped off the list is actually more interesting than what’s on. Dr. Zhivago seems to have plummeted pretty far. But the only two I’d really quibble with are Stagecoach and Frankenstein — what happened to them? And where’s “Airplane!”?
I’ve seen around the same number of these as you, but oddly, also have never seen “Raging Bull.”
Obviously this list is designed to provoke reactions, but it’s hard to see Fantasia drop off the list. Eric.
You’re doing way better than I am in general, Mike, but All About Eve is a pretty big omission . . . especially for such a deliciously witty film tailor-made for our celeb-driven era.
