Some Victories for Communications Policy Transparency

Blogger Glenn Greenwald does a terrific job exposing cozy special interest ties between big government & big media. His post on the EFF’s recent court victory regarding lobbying disclosures is a must-read:

[A] federal judge in California yesterday ordered the Bush administration to comply with EFF’s FOIA demand and disclose documents revealing its “communications with telecommunications carriers and members of Congress” regarding efforts to amend FISA and provide amnesty to telecoms.

This development reminds of the terrific work being done by Drew Clark and the Center for Public Integrity. I was wowed by this podcast from the Berkman Center on “Media Tracker, FCC Watch, and the Politics of Telecom, Media and Technology.”
