This inaugural symposium explores the relationship among corporate data security practices, technology, consumers and regulation. It brings together a multidisciplinary group of academics, technologists, journalists, policy advocates and regulatory professionals to discuss the transformation of personally identifiable consumer information into a corporate asset, the technological means and social importance of this data’s protection and future directions for corporate data security regulation in the United States and in the European Union.
