On September 21-25, 2008, Professors Ronald A. Brand and Harry Flechtner provided a week-long training program for US Steel Kosice lawyers in Medzev, Slovakia. The program involved a simulation in which the participants negotiated an international contract for the sale of steel, worked through problems created by changes in the buyer’s market conditions, and ultimately arbitrated a dispute with the buyer. Professor Spencer Weber Waller of Loyola University of Chicago School of Law provided a companion course in US and EU competition law. This was the fourth training program for US Steel Kosice lawyers provided by Pitt Law’s Center for International Legal Education, with prior courses covering Legal English, Legal Ethics, an Introduction to American Law, Comparative Corporate Law, International Business Transactions, and International Commercial law.
