In January, 2007, Professor Kevin Ashley participated in a conference at Cardozo Law School in Manhattan entitled, “Graphic and Visual Representations of Evidence and Inference in Legal Settings”. This interdisciplinary conference brought together scholars and practitioners from the fields of law, philosophy, computer science, artificial intelligence, cognitive psychology, and linguistics to discuss topics including graphical means for visualizing factual inference and proof and for representing evidential argument support. Professor Ashley served as a Panelist, commenting on a paper entitled, “Graphical Manipulation of Evidence in Structured Arguments,” by John Lawrence of SRI International’s Artificial Intelligence Center, Menlo Park, California. Final versions of the papers and comments will soon be published in the Oxford Journal, /Law, Probability & Risk/.
