Talking About Technology

How does changing technology change our language? Here’s an area where I don’t even know the right questions to ask. Notice, though, that with the recent Family Entertainment and Copyright Act we get references to “camcord” and “camcorder” as verbs. Add that to the pervasiveness of the verb form of “Google” and the adjectival “Napsterized.” Eric Goldman offers “portalization”. There must be other examples. Is this new, or do new technologies always bring this on?
