A quibble, because I agree with almost all of Ernie’s observation: Is regulating “information” flow really the endpoint of copyright, and telecom, and the First Amendment? Or is regulating information flow really an indirect way of regulating people flow?
It isn’t the endpoint, it is the means. I’m not really sure how it is related to regulating people flow. I’m not really sure what that means.
What we label “information” is a set of structures for mediating how people relate to one another, in a wide variety of contexts. To control information (or to free information) is to limit or to enable different forms of social interaction.
