Sometimes, it’s all about the thing. Yesterday’s post was about the identity of “the network.” Aristotle would be equally proud today: What is a Florida round tomato? Lawyers representing the producers of the UglyRipe tomato argue that the UglyRipe (which is instantly recognizable as an heirloom variety beefstake tomato) isn’t a Florida round tomato. If they’re right, then they say that the Florida Tomato Committee has to allow UglyRipes to be shipped out of Florida, and sold in fine stores everywhere. The New York Times explains.
