Academic Downloads

Just a quick post to recommend the following links for those who like to listen to IP-related stuff on their digital music players:

1) Conference on Comedies of Fair Use (I highly recommend “The Permissions Maze”)

2) Audio Berkman (a really rich array of podcasts of events from the Berkman center)

Some of the downloads are so interesting they bridge that old divide mentioned in the Philebus by Socrates:

Philebus was saying that enjoyment and pleasure and delight, and the class of feelings akin to them, are a good to every living being, whereas I contend, that not these, but wisdom and intelligence and memory, and their kindred, right opinion and true reasoning, are better and more desirable than pleasure for all who are able to partake of them, and that to all such who are or ever will be they are the most advantageous of all things.

What I’m looking forward to is someone creating MP3 files of readings of public domain works like this. It shouldn’t be too hard, given TextAloud software and other improvements in convertibility between voice and text.
